Overview of ICT facilities for new students.

Welcome to UCLL. This page will help you as a new student or staff member to find your way and gives a brief overview of all our ICT services:

your UCLL account

You will receive an email with information on how to activate your UCLL account. So follow the instructions in this email.

  • Username: can be read from your student or staff card
  • Activation code: can be used once to activate your account and choose a password

Didn't receive the email? Then contact your registration service or your HR officer.

Wifi: eduroam

UCLL has the "Eduroam" wifi network on every campus. You install eduroam once and you have internet access on all UCLL campuses but also at all other affiliated educational institutions worldwide.

  1. Connect to the internet.
  2. Browse to cat.eduroam.org and click on the blue button.
  3. Follow the instructions and enter the correct credentials.
  4. On campus: Select "Eduroam" as your wifi network.

Eduroam username: username@ucll.be (don't forget the @ucll.be!).

Software

A number of courses will enter the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) project from September 2023; you will then be expected to have a laptop.

We install Office 365 on every UCLL computer by default.
For your own computer, please refer to the installation procedure.

This includes your personal OneDrive:

  • Free storage space
  • Your files are saved automatically so nothing gets lost.

Documents you are working on together with others should preferably be shared via Microsoft Teams.

E-mail

E-mail traffic at UCLL is handled by Outlook. You can log in through:

  • Intranet: quicklink 'Office 365' and then choose Outlook on the left..
  • Outlook: install the app.
  • Toledo: the mail icon in the top right corner.

  • Fill in your field of study and class group under 'Education'.
  • Add this signature to every email to make it clear who you are.

You can also configure your UCLL mailbox on your laptop and smartphone.

Card

Students receive their student card by post, employees receive their card through the HR department.

The UCLL card can be used to:

  • Identify yourself.
  • Access the UCLL libraries and classrooms.
  • Print and copy on campus.

UCLL app

Through the UCLL app, you can consult all kinds of practical information, such as:

  • News: consult news items on the intranet.
  • Timetable: view when and where your classes are.
  • My card: consult and revalue your print en copy balance.

Copy, print and scan

From December 2024, UCLL will switch to new multifunctionals/printers, more details and an update to the information below will follow later.

On a UCLL desktop (e.g. in a computer class) or laptop you can print directly to a campus printer:

  1. Send your assignment to the printer "UCLL_Kleur" (colour ) or "UCLL_Zwart_Wit" (black & white)
  2. Go to a printer on campus and put your card on the card reader.
  3. Press the printer icon and print.

But you can also print to a campus printer from your own laptop:

  1. Surf to webprint.ucll.be and fill in your username and password.
  2. Select the file you want and choose the printer you want to use: "UCLL_Kleur" (colour ) or "UCLL_Zwart_Wit" (black & white).
  3. Adjust the advanced settings if necessary and press the button of the right printer.
  4. Go to a printer on campus and put your card on the card reader.
  5. Press the printer icon and print.

Laptop for students

A number of courses will enter the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) project from september 2023; you will then be expected to have a laptop.

A laptop is almost indispensable for following a course at UCLL. The ICT department offers a handy overview on the intranet concerning student laptops:

Online learning environment: Toledo

How to access the online learning environment?

  1. Log in to the Intranet with your username and password.
  2. Choose "Toledo" from the quick links on the right.

You will see an overview of all your courses (linked to your ISP) and communities (self-created groups by professors).

A greyed-out box means that the course has not been made available by the lecturer and is therefore not (yet) accessible.
Be careful when setting filters, they remain active after logging out!

Administrative portal: KULoket

Here you can consult your individual study programme, personal data, tolerance credit, obtained marks, etc. In your progress file you can also find your published exam results.

IMPORTANT! At the start of the academic year, you check and submit your ISP!

Online classes

If your class schedule indicates an online class, you can follow it live at home. Appointments also apply to online lessons:

  • Choose a quiet place in the house.
  • Put on the right clothes.
  • Be there on time 😊.

Classes can continue online through:

  • TEAMS:
    • in your Teams app > course
    • in your Teams app > calendar

My Toledo Progress

You can follow your progress through your courses by using the button "My Toledo Progress":

It's useful to see how many assignments, self-study assignments are still open.

Switching courses/school

Are there still courses/communities in Toledo from a previous course? This is how you can remove them:

  • Go to Toledo.
  • Click on "Manage" in the upper right corner and choose "Unsubscribe".

Unsubscribe from the list for the courses/communities that no longer apply to your current study programme.

Did you transfer from another college or university to the KU Leuven association? Then make sure that your correspondence e-mail address is correct!
KU Loket > Student file > Addresses > Select your current UCLL e-mail address under "General communication".
