Student and staff card

Every student and staff member at UCLL is given a personal card. On the front of this card you will find your personal username or intranet user-id. This number always starts with u, r, s or m. More info about your UCLL account.

NEW: Starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, you will receive a student ID card that will last for the rest of your student career.

Handy card!

  • To identify yourself as a UCLL student or staff member.
  • For access to our UCLL libraries and classrooms.
  • To pay  (after recharging your card - see recharge info on the intranet.)
    • in the cafeteria (till June 2024 - after that payment in cafetaria is only possible with classic payment cards)
    • and to print and copy on campus. 
  • You can use it to borrow materials through our lending services.
  • You can use it to obtain discounts at a number of stores, cinemas, museums, sports clubs, events, etc.

You can also use your card at the Associatie KU Leuven

Your card is also known at the Associatie KU Leuven and gives access to:

  • Subscriptions:
    • Sports facilities in the Leuven region upon request of a sports card
    • Extra discount on cultural activities with a culture card.
    • Access control KU Leuven e.g. libraries of KU Leuven.
  • You can check your online card status, for this you need your card number, found on the back of your card.

Activate your UCLL card

Students receive their student card by mail, late registrants receive their card through the student administration. UCLL employees receive their card through the personnel department.

Your first card is automatically activated, but you should follow these steps to make sure. If you received a card to replace an outdated, defective, lost or stolen card, you always have to activate your new card.

For UCLL students

Step 1: Make sure your card is activated with Associatie KU Leuven

  • Scan the QR code on the back
  • Check if you are known as a UCLL student.

Step 2: Make sure your card has been activated by UCLL.

  • Go to intranet.ucll.be/en/activatecard and follow the instructions.
  • If the card with your card number is not in the list and you did execute the first step, try again the next day.

For UCLL staff

  • Go to my UCLL and check if your card is active.
  • If the card with your card number is not in the list, try again the next day.

Card defective or lost?

You can request a new studentcard, do not forget to activate your card afterwards. As soon as you activate a new card, the old one becomes invalid.
