Schoolyear is a software application used during digital exams to create a safe and controlled exam environment. When you take an exam through Schoolyear, your device is temporarily locked: you only have access to the exam page and other pre-approved resources. All other applications, files and websites are blocked for the duration of the session.
The manual for installing Schoolyear can be found here (English version in development).
For more information about Schoolyear, you can visit the Help Center. Known issues and Frequently Asked Questions can also be found on the Help Center.
I have a Schoolyear exam or continuous assessment (CA)
It is important that you come well prepared to your Schoolyear exam or continuous assessment (CA). To minimise the chance of technical issues, it is essential to bring a properly functioning laptop to the exam.
Your lecturer will have explained during classes that the exam will take place via Schoolyear and will provide a test moment during which a practice exam will be conducted. Make sure to participate in this, so that any potential issues can be identified and resolved in time.
In addition, make sure to complete the following steps in advance:
- Know your UCLL account password!
This is important in case any problems arise. - Bring your smartphone for MFA via the KU Leuven Authenticator.
- Wi-Fi via Eduroam
During the exam, only the use of Wi-Fi via Eduroam is permitted. Do not use your own hotspot (e.g. via your smartphone). Test the use of Eduroam in advance on campus with the laptop you will also use during the exam/CA. All information to correctly install Eduroam can be found here: https://intranet.ucll.be/eduroam. If you experience any issues, make an appointment with the ICT department in good time: https://intranet.ucll.be/en/node/36683#appointment - Fully charge your laptop before the exam and bring your charger
Make sure your laptop is fully charged before the exam. There are few power outlets available, so make sure you have enough power yourself, for example by bringing a power bank.
