A UCLL vision of a living campus
In brief
A living UCLL campus is more than just a place to learn and work. It is a contemporary, vibrant and stimulating environment that is accessible to everyone, where everyone can be themselves, and where connection and participation are central.
Building blocks of the vision
This slogan clearly focuses on five main pillars: contemporary, liveliness, accessibility, authenticity and connection. The text below will make it clear that these pillars are inextricably linked and even overlap to some extent. In other words, one pillar cannot exist without the others.
1. Contemporary: ‘A living UCLL campus is both modern and progressive.’
A living UCLL campus
takes into account both social concerns and the needs of its users.
is open to suggestions from its users.
is a place where change is possible.
leaves room to identify new trends and implement them if appropriate, desirable and possible.
offers a clear place for everyday life.
is committed to sustainability.
keeps its finger on the pulse in terms of ICT and technology.
2. Liveliness: ‘A living UCLL campus is a vibrant and stimulating environment.’
A living UCLL campus
Together with its users, forms the beating heart of our university college.
Is literally bursting with life and must be designed in such a way that it evokes life in its users.
offers space for activities other than education and work, such as sports, leisure and culture.
is inspiring and invites its users to take initiative. It sets them in motion.
is a place where nature plays a prominent role, both indoors and outdoors.
extends beyond the walls of the campus buildings.
3. Accessibility: ‘A living UCLL campus is accessible to everyone.’
A living UCLL campus
is a place where everyone is welcome and where respect is central.
is open to co-housing.
is a place where the user is central.
takes into account the importance of internationalisation.
4. Authenticity: ‘A living UCLL campus is a place where everyone can be themselves.’

attaches importance to diversity.
stimulates creativity.
is a place where people can feel good and are allowed to feel less good.
The presence of a quiet space on campus fits in seamlessly with this pillar. To ensure that everyone understands the same thing by quiet space and pursues the same objective in its design, a specific vision statement was written for the quiet space.
5. Connection: ‘A living UCLL campus revolves around connectedness’
A living UCLL campus
