Eduroam is the main network at UCLL, configure eduroam on your laptop on smartphone.

What is eduroam

Eduroam is the main wireless network on the UCLL campuses. Other educational and research institutions also participate in the Eduroam project. See www.eduroam.be for more information. You have to install eduroam once, which has some important advantages:

  • you stay logged in,
  • faster,
  • more secure,
  • available on all UCLL campuses and far beyond.

3 things before you start...

  1. Your login for eduroam is your gebruikersnaam@ucll.be (e.g. r0123456@ucll.be), not your email address.
  2. To use eduroam your device needs to have recent security updates.
  3. Connect to the internet before starting the installation to download the installation file. You can do this beforehand via your home Wi-Fi, via mobile internet (4/5G) or via ucll-guest it is also possible to download the installation file.

eduroam faq

  1. What operating system and version am I using?
You can check this via this website.

  2. I see multiple wifi networks on campus, which one should I use?
On the intranet you will find an overview of our wifi networks, eduroam is the primary network. If you have a UCLL account this network is preferred.

  3. I am connected to Eduroam but I have no internet access, I can't surf?
Make sure you use static DNS servers. To use eduroam it is necessary that your DNS servers are set to "automatic".

  4. I did the installation but I can't connect?
The installation tool does not check if your username and password are correct. If you are in doubt, you may perform the installation again indefinitely. Still having problems? Please contact ICT support.

The configuration of secure wireless settings depends on the operating system and the type of wireless adapter. Below we provide the information needed to configure your device to connect to eduroam.

This information is intended only for those with sufficient technical knowledge, we provide eduroam manuals for the most common operating systems.
Manual configurationWireless adapter
ESSID (Network Name): eduroam

Your wireless adapter must support WPA2-Enterprise and must be Wi-Fi certified.

Your wireless adapter must support the following wireless standard: 802.11ac (wifi 5) or better 802.11ax (wifi 6).

WPA2 comes in two flavors: WPA2-Personal & WPA2-Enterprise. It is important to make this distinction because the UCLL eduroam only supports Enterprise mode.
