Step-by-step guide for installing Eduroam on MacOS devices

Two ways to set up Wi-Fi

Choose the appropriate installation method below based on your situation:

  • With internet access: You already have access to a network, for example via your home Wi-Fi, a guest network, or a previous Eduroam setup.
  • Without internet access: You are on campus but do not yet have Wi-Fi or network access.

Follow the instructions that match your situation to connect to Eduroam quickly and securely.

You have an internet connection

Setting up Eduroam with internet access (home network, guest network, or previous installation)

Step 1: Download the installation file

Download the installation file and run it.

Step 2: Go to Profiles in System Preferences

Open 'System Preferences' or 'System Settings'

Search for 'Profile' and double-click on 'Eduroam'

Step 3: Install the profile

Click on ‘Install’.

Step 4: Enter your username followed by @ucll.be and your password

Type your username followed by @ucll.be (e.g., r0123456@ucll.be) This is not your email address!

Step 5: Add @ucll.be to your username

You may receive a message at this stage indicating that Eduroam is already in use if you’ve previously connected to the network.

Step 6: Enter your MacBook password

To install the profile, you need to sign in using your device’s administrator password.

Step 7: Profile installed, you can now connect to eduroam

Accidentally used the wrong password? You’ll only notice this when trying to connect in the final step. You can fix it by reinstalling the profile. Forgot your password? Reset it here.

On campus without internet access

Installing Eduroam without an internet connection (offline installation)

Step 1: Connect to Eduroam

Connect to the Eduroam network while on campus.

Step 2: Enter your username followed by @ucll.be and your password

Type your username followed by @ucll.be (eg. r0123456@ucll.be) This is not your email address!

Step 3: Verify the certificate

If you see that the certificate is issued by radius.ucll.be, you may safely check the box to always trust this certificate.

  • Issuer: GEANT TLS RSA 1
  • Fingerprint:

Step 4: Enter your MacBook password

To install the profile, you need to sign in using your device’s administrator password.
