Set up your UCLL email address on your device

To avoid missing important UCLL emails, we recommend using Microsoft Outlook. Outlook is secure, user-friendly, and fully optimized for Microsoft 365.

When you add your email and calendar to your personal device, be careful not to allow UCLL to manage your device remotely. This remote management functionality is built into platform-specific apps such as macOS (Apple Mail), iPhone/iPad Mail, and Android (G)mail apps.
For this reason, we do not recommend using platform-specific mail apps.

WHICH DEVICES ARE SUPPORTED?

You can configure your email on devices that are supported by Exchange Online. These are usually devices that still receive security updates from their manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, Huawei, etc.). Do you have a device that is too old? In that case, you can only access your email via webmail in your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, ...).

The mobile Outlook app and other mobile Microsoft apps are supported as follows:

  • Android: the latest four major versions are supported
  • iOS: the current version and the previous version are supported

Multifactor-authenticatie (MFA)

You can better secure your email using the KU Leuven Authenticator. This adds an extra verification step when accessing your devices and data. This is safer than using only a username and password. This method is called multi-factor authentication, or MFA in short (as used in our guides).
