Student Services is here for you!

Welcome to Stuvo+

Welcome to Stuvo+! We’re here to help you with everything that comes with being a student. Whether you have questions about moving into student accommodation, getting to your campus, need support from the social or psychosocial services, would like to explore sport or culture, or are looking for other student facilities: Stuvo+ is here to offer guidance, advice and support.

Below, you’ll find more information about what we offer in each area and how to get in touch with us. Please don’t hesitate to contact us – we’re happy to help you throughout your time as a student.

Do you need someone to talk to or some extra support?

Did you know that we also run group sessions on psychosocial and other topics?
Be sure to check out what’s on offer here!

Every student faces challenges from time to time. Sometimes it’s something minor that throws you off balance for a while; other times it’s a more serious situation that affects your studies, wellbeing or daily life. Whatever it is, you don’t have to deal with it on your own.

Your first point of contact within the university is often your student coach. This person is attached to your degree programme and can lend a listening ear, help you think through your situation and guide you through the support available. You can also find other coaches and contact persons for your degree programme via ‘My coaches’ on the intranet.

Via ‘My coaches’, you can also find the student services team for your degree programme. The student services team plays an important role in addressing questions or situations that may have an impact on your studies or wellbeing. During an initial consultation, they will work with you to identify exactly what your question or need is and what support best suits you.

Among other things, the student services team can assist you with applying for special status with any associated facilities if your personal situation, disability, health, combining studies with work or elite sport, or other circumstances make this necessary. Together, you will explore the options available and determine which arrangements or adjustments can help make your studies achievable. Even if you are primarily in need of a confidential conversation, the Student Services team can listen to you and work with you to determine what further support is appropriate.

Need some extra support?

One of the ways you can get help is through Stuvo+’s psychological counselling. You can turn to them for sessions to discuss personal, social or emotional difficulties. You can be referred via the student services department, but it is also possible to book an initial consultation directly via the appointment booker. As the number of free sessions is limited, it is important to use this support wisely.

Studying doesn’t work the same way for everyone. If you need extra support due to a disability, the support team can work with you to see what might help. This could involve individual support or advice on, for example, reasonable adjustments, assistive technology or studying with a disability. You don’t have to figure out where to go yourself: the student services department is your first point of contact and will work with you to determine what support is appropriate.

External support services

Sometimes the most suitable support is available outside the university. That is why we work with various external partners who offer high-quality support services. These partnerships provide additional guidance when looking for suitable support, but you are, of course, free to seek help from support professionals or organisations within your own network. The Student Services team will be happy to assist you with this.

If you’d like to book an appointment straight away with one of our psychologists or educational psychologists, simply click directly on the appointment booker. That’s the quickest way to book an appointment.

Not sure where to go? Feel free to get in touch with the student services team. Together, we’ll work out what you need and where you’ll get the best support.

Do you have any financial questions?

Studying brings with it a whole host of opportunities, but sometimes financial challenges too. You may be worried about the cost of your course, your student accommodation, study materials or your day-to-day expenses. In such situations, you can contact Stuvo+’s social services department.

Do you have any questions or would you like to make an appointment? If so, you can book an appointment via our appointment planner or contact us on 011 18 01 80; please call during opening hours.

How can I get around my campus easily?

UCLL Limburg has three campuses in Limburg: in Diepenbeek, Hasselt and Genk (Liza campus). Through Stuvo+, we also support students at LUCA Campus C-mine, which means we are active on a fourth campus in Limburg.

Accessibility varies by campus. Depending on where you live and which campus you attend, travelling by car may sometimes be the most practical option. Nevertheless, we encourage students to use a bicycle or public transport wherever possible.

To support sustainable travel, you can hire a bike at a reduced rate through UCLL. It is also possible to apply for a full or partial refund of your travel pass, depending on your circumstances.

Do you have any questions about transport, parking facilities, bike hire or contributions towards transport costs? If so, be sure to take a look at the UCLL Self-Service Portal. There you’ll find plenty of practical information and answers to frequently asked questions about mobility and accessibility.

Finally in my student room!

For many students, moving into student accommodation is an important part of student life. It offers greater independence, a shorter commute to campus and the chance to be fully involved in student life. Depending on your course and campus, you can choose to rent student accommodation in Diepenbeek, Genk or Hasselt.

When searching for accommodation, we recommend choosing a room from the selection offered by Kot@Limburg. This database contains rooms that meet the quality standards set by UCLL. Furthermore, the tenancy agreements used have been checked and approved, offering you extra security and peace of mind when renting a student room.

Do you have any questions about accommodation, tenancy agreements, subletting or other practical matters relating to living in student accommodation? Be sure to have a look on the intranet under ‘Support and advice’ and then ‘Living in student accommodation’. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Then send an email to huisvesting.limburg@ucll.be.

Sport

A healthy lifestyle not only contributes to your physical health, but also helps you maintain your mental balance whilst studying. What’s more, sport is an ideal way to meet other students and make new friends.

That’s why Studentensport Limburg offers a wide range of sports activities for all UCLL students. With a sports pass, you can take part in the regular evening programme and practise various sports each week, such as swimming, climbing or ice skating. You can easily purchase your sports pass via the Studentensport Limburg app. The many sporting events organised throughout the academic year are also definitely worth attending.

In addition, as a UCLL student, you can join the rowing team and enjoy discounted rates at Basic-Fit. So there are plenty of opportunities to get active in a way that suits you.

Do you have any specific questions about the range of sports on offer, the sports card or other sporting opportunities? Be sure to have a look on the intranet under ‘Studying at UCLL’ and then ‘Benefits’. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Then send an email to sport.limburg@ucll.be.

Cultuur

Studying is about more than just attending lectures. That’s why Stuvo+ organises fun cultural activities every academic year where you can enjoy yourself, relax and get to know new people alongside other students.

For example, every year we head to a cosy Christmas market in Germany, organise a film night at Kinepolis, and have plenty of other exciting activities on the programme throughout the year.

Curious about what’s coming up soon? Take a look at our events page and sign up for the activities that appeal to you.

Do you have any questions or ideas for a cultural activity? Please feel free to email us at cultuur.limburg@ucll.be. We’d be happy to help!

Student participation

Your voice makes a difference. At UCLL, we believe it is important for students to be able to actively contribute ideas and help shape the university. Through student participation, you’ll have the chance to put forward ideas, give feedback and help shape policy.

In addition, our student societies also play an important role in student life. They organise numerous activities, bring students together and ensure a vibrant campus. In Limburg, you can join Kerberus, Netsilana, MAG, Didasco and Agogica. There are both programme-specific and open associations, so there’s a place for everyone.

Do you want to help shape UCLL? Whether you want to sit on a student council, help shape policy or get involved in a student association: everyone is welcome to participate.

Do you have any questions or would you like to find out more? Please feel free to contact the Limburg Participation Coach via participatiecoach.limburg@ucll.be. We’d be happy to help!

Catering

The way to a student’s heart is through their stomach! That is why STUVO+, together with our partner Sodexo, is committed to providing a healthy, tasty and varied range of food options on our campuses.

The range varies from campus to campus, but everywhere we strive to offer students a high-quality and affordable meal or snack every day.

Do you have an idea, a suggestion, or would you like to share your thoughts on our catering services? Please let us know at catering@ucll.be. Your feedback helps us to tailor our services even better to the needs of our students.

Having doubts about your choice of degree programme?

Are you not quite sure whether you’ve chosen the right course? Or are you wondering which course would suit you better? You’re certainly not the only one! Onderwijskiezer helps you to explore your interests, talents and possibilities further. You’ll find information about courses there and can complete various online questionnaires and course-choice tests to help you get started.
