Thanks to the built-in Unix commands (based on Cygwin), it is possible to simulate Linux-like environments on Windows. It is especially useful for students in IT, networking or system administration who regularly need to log into remote systems or manage servers. ## Download software [Download MobaXterm](https://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/download-home-edition.html) The installation instructions for this software are explained during the lessons. Installation manual 1. Go to the official website and choose between the Installer Edition (with installation) or the Portable Edition (without installation). 2. Download the .exe file. - For Installer Edition: run the file and follow the installation instructions. - For Portable Edition: place the file in a location of your choice and double-click to start. 3. Launch MobaXterm. 4. Create a new session via "Session > SSH", or use the built-in SFTP browser. 5. For graphical Linux applications via X11: enable X11 forwarding in the settings.
