Staff and students

The use of the ICT resources provided by the university college is subject to a number of rules of conduct. Together, these are known as the ICT Code of Conduct.

The use of the ICT resources provided by the university college is subject to a number of rules of conduct. These rules set out what is and is not permitted, in order to avoid technical or legal problems. They apply to all ICT facilities offered by UC Leuven-Limburg, either directly or through partners.

Using ICT smartly and safely at UCLL starts with the following seven ICT rules of conduct:

1. **Use ICT resources with common sense, respect and professionalism**
Digital resources are there to help you learn, collaborate and create. Use them responsibly and appropriately.
2. **Protect your accounts and devices**
Never share your login details. Use strong passwords, store them in a password manager and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). Never leave ICT resources unattended. You are responsible for everything that happens under your accounts.
3. **No unauthorised use of software and devices**
Only use software, content and devices that pose no risk to security, legislation, licences or the operation of UCLL systems.
4. **Keep data secure and confidential**
Handle data with care, comply with the GDPR and only use secure applications to share or store internal, sensitive or confidential information.
5. **Stay alert to phishing and other digital risks**
Do not open suspicious emails, links or attachments. Stop immediately if in doubt, and report incidents or suspected misuse to <support.ict@ucll.be>.
6. **Smart with AI: mindful, reliable and responsible**
AI applications are a powerful tool. Use them with insight and with respect for privacy, quality, copyright and the guidelines in the UCLL AI policy (<https://intranet.ucll.be/ict>, “AI” section).
7. **Trust and oversight: UCLL safeguards security**
When necessary, the ICT department may carry out targeted monitoring to keep systems secure and stable, but always does so proportionately and with respect for your privacy.
